Matlock Canoe Club

Club Coaching Programme

  • During the winter the club meets at Matlock Pool, 7-8pm on Monday evenings for general practice. Contact Donna to book a space.
  • During the summer months there will be "Introduction to the River" courses on Monday evenings, for beginners with some experience in the pool or elsewhere. Contact Donna to book a space.
  • Wednesday night is Club Night, on the river at Matlock Bath from 7-9pm for general training, where club members provide safety, support and advice for each other - ensure you have been deemed competent to go on the river by a club coach before attending club training sessions. Juniors must be supervised.
  • Slalom training is now on Thursdays from 7-9pm. This session is suitable for all paddlers who want to improve their slalom skills. Coaching is provided but not direct safety cover and supervision.
  • Canoeing and Kayaking are "Assumed risk" - "Water contact sports" that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
  • A child must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or a nominated adult who shall assume responsibility for the child throughout the time the child is on the water. Neither the Club nor the BCU will assume responsibility or be liable for a child who is unaccompanied or unsupervised.
  • Changes to the programme will be posted on the "Canews" page.
  • Please organise your own events - if you need help/kit/coaching get in touch with Danny.
