Lower River Derwent (Derbyshire)
Darley Abbey Weir - DerbyOpen Access from the local football pitch opposite the Abbey Public House, with plenty of parking.
Beware of the dangers around the weir at high water and especially the trees on the island.
At low water it is ideal for beginners.
From the weir there are navigational rights downstream to the River Trent at Sawley, near Nottingham, about 23 miles.
Derby Town Centre - Weir
Dangerous weir and you are strongly advised to portage around. The weir has a very strong tow back between medium to high water and at low water there is a dangerous concrete ledge at its base.
Draycott Weir
The weir is shutable at certain water levels. Check with the local access officer, or check for details in the current East Midlands River Guide (obtained from BCU Headquarters Nottingham).
